The Team

Client: Chefs Alex McIntosh and Tristen Spain

The Challenge

The Bocuse d'Or is the most prestigious gastronomic competition in the world, with teams representing seventy countries across four continents in a stadium atmosphere.

Working as an integral part of the Australian team our industrial designers developed the presentation as an interactive process, alongside our national team of chefs.

‍

Taking inspiration from the Twelve Apostles in Victoria, the dishes were integrated within the iconic seascape, to elevate the presentation to a crowd of over 10,000+ fans.

‍

Collaborative co-design between industrial designers and chef team created a spectacular fusion of form and ingredients, where points were awarded for plating and presentation. Working to tight deadlines, the presentation was fabricated locally using digital production methods, enabling the chef team to perfect their performance before traveling to Paris for the event.
